A group of 17 German students along with 2 teachers landed in Spain on the 5th of May. They arrived in Segovia at midday and their corresponding families were waiting for them to carry them to what their home for the week would be.
In short, they did different activities around our area and also they moved around to visit cities such as Salamanca and Madrid, the capital city of Spain. However, we focused their attention and the trip on the landmarks and everyday life of Segovia and the surrounding villages, as they are the perfect example of how we get by on an everyday basis. What is more, they were told about the different projects our school is involved in.
For example, they got to know the city centre of Segovia through a “literary walk” thanks to a very special guide, Jesús Pastor, who told them about the history of important places and streets in addition to anecdotes and interesting facts connected to literature
Apart from this, on Saturday, all participants and their families were invited to an activity organised by the “Grupo Excursionista” of our school. Thanks to this activity, we went hiking around the city of Segovia, enjoyed wonderful views of several landmarks such as “Alcázar” and even played games in a natural area.
Last but not least, very near our city there is the possibility to participate in a great multi-adventure activity which is canoeing along the Natural Park of “Hoces del Río Duratón” where there is a reserve of griffon vultures and one can spot them flying and also their nests.
Not only did this exchange programme benefit and help improve the language skills but also it established a bonding relationship among the participants.
